Support Prop 1C and $2.85 Billion for Affordable Housing

The Yes on Proposition 1C campaign is well underway and your help is urgently needed to pass the $2.85 billion affordable housing bond.  Nearly all the funds from Proposition 46 (the $2.1 billion general obligation bond passed in 2002) will be depleted by the end of this year. Proposition 1C will ensure continued funding for many of the housing productions programs established by Proposition 46.

Supporting Proposition 1C is the most important and immediate action we can take in dealing with the housing crisis in California. Proposition 1C can ensure safe, decent and affordable homes for our most vulnerable populations, like homeless families, the disabled and seniors, as well as provide real housing choices for working families. Proposition 1C includes:

*    $725 million to help an estimated 23,600 families become or remain homeowners.
*    $345 million to provide affordable rental housing to an estimated 4,000 families. Includes rental housing for lower income workers, the elderly, the disabled, and veterans.
*   $135 million to provide rental and affordable ownership opportunities for over 2,800 farm worker families.
*    $245 million to build over 2,400 permanent housing units for the homeless, those transitioning out of homelessness, and foster care youth.
*    $50 million to construct and expand shelter of last resorts and transitional housing.
*    $1.35 billion to build infill homes and homes located near transit and other infrastructure.
