Banks Offering the Essential Bank Account

Washington Mutual plans to offer the Essential Bank Account (EBA) throughout California in July 2006.  The account will be available at all California branches.

Citibank is currently offering the EBA as a limited demonstration project in San Diego.  After the Bank has signed up a targeted number of new account holders, an evaluation of the program will be conducted and the bank will decide whether or not to offer the account in other parts of the state.
